Realtors Continue Support For Hawaii Opera Theatre

Realtors for Opera celebrate their 15th anniversary during this 2017-2018 season of Hawaii Opera Theatre productions. Members of the group, who attended the VIP reception and dress rehearsal for “The Tales of Hoffmann,” presented April 21, 23, and 25, are shown at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.

The 2017-2018 season will offer Carmen (October 13, 15, and 17, 2017), Daughter of the Regiment (February 9, 11, and 13, 2018), Eugene Onegin (April 20, 22, and 24, 2018), and As One (dates and venue to be determined). Realtors for Opera founder Christine O’Brien explains that, by becoming a “sponsor” of an opera, Realtors for Opera participants receive recognition in every program of every opera throughout the season, as well as on the HOT website, and are invited to a complimentary VIP reception, dress rehearsal, and backstage tour.

O’Brien noted that she was inspired by the successful support of Hawaii Opera Theatre by the Physicians Opera Group and Lawyers for Opera when she founded Realtors for Opera in 2002. Subsequently Architects for Opera, Accountants for Opera, and Dentists for Opera were formed.

Realtor Maggie Walker, who serves on the HOT Board of Directors with O’Brien, has also been active in promoting participation among Hawaii Association of Realtors members. “I’ve helped with the Realtor / Opera Group for some years now and this has been one of the most gratifying. Not only do we have some outstanding new members, we have retained most of our former members. We are looking forward to another successful season, and are so fortunate to have opera of this quality out here in Honolulu,” Walker said.
