Oceanfront Options – The North Shore – Kuilima

By the time the winter big wave surfing competitions conclude at the famous beaches of Oahu’s North Shore, visitors and competitors from all parts of the world will have been exposed to the energy and ambiance of this unique part of Hawaii. Many have purchased their own personal “piece of paradise,” contributing to the diversity of the North Shore communities.
North Shore real estate has continued to appreciate dramatically over the past three decadess. Homes along the stretch of coastline between Kahuku and Kaena Point range from “beach shacks” to multi-million dollar estates and condominium developments. Kamaaina families have continued to maintain both primary and secondary residences on the North Shore, and companies such as Billabong, Hurley, and Volcom have purchased properties in choice beachfront locations. Commercial development is concentrated primarily in Haleiwa Town, where several new commercial projects have just been completed. Despite the extensive media exposure and the increase in upscale residential real estate development, the North Shore of Oahu continues to resist excesses of urban encroachment and retain its country atmosphere.
An additional option for oceanfront living on Oahu’s North Shore became available with the development of luxury condominiums at the Turtle Bay Resort, where a four-bedroom, three-bath residence is currently offered by Elite Pacific Properties for $3,399,999.
The 858-acre Turtle Bay Resort includes the 410-room main hotel building on Kuilima Point, plus 42 resort-owned guest cottages along Turtle Bay Cove to the west, and 57 individually owned condominium units along Kuilima Cove to the east.
According to Realtor and listing agent Cliff Cassity, the Kuilima Cove units are used primarily as vacation rentals operated by the resort. Occupants of the units are considered guests of the Turtle Bay Resort and accorded all of its five-star amenities, including swimming pools, Jacuzzis, water slides, walking trails, tennis courts, fitness centers and business centers. They also can charge to their Ocean Villas accounts their use of the resort’s restaurants and bars and two top-rated golf courses.
Elite Pacific Properties manages 30 of the Ocean Villas properties for owners renting their units nightly, and Cassity is willing to share the revenue history of his listing with qualified buyers. His listing is a corner unit on the third floor of the three-story Ocean Villas, which sits on five acres.
“This condo is its own little entity – a unique, high-end property with an expansive, grand view of the resort’s sandy Kuilima Cove beach and the ocean beyond,” Cassity said.
Besides its ideal location just steps from the beach, property features include high-quality kitchen and laundry appliances, air conditioning, drapes, kitchenware, ceiling fans, book shelves, cable, assigned parking, security systems, including property security guards, and a 158-square-foot open lanai.
The Turtle Bay Resort has been a backdrop in many major movies and TV shows and is not far from famous North Shore surfing beaches, such as Sunset, Waimea, and Pipeline, as well as historic Haleiwa Town, with its numerous shopping and dining options. To the east are Kahuku and Laie, site of the Polynesian Cultural Center, and the 1,100-acre James Campbell National Wildlife Reserve.
