Samkoo Announces Educational Seminars for 310 Affordable Units at The Central Ala Moana

Affordable housing and Honolulu are not commonly associated with each other. The Honolulu Board of Realtors numbers show that Hawaii’s median single-family housing value is around $810,000, making it the highest in the nation, and demolishes the previous record of $795,000 set in June 2017. Condominiums are not much better, where the median price hit $427,000 this past August. For reference, the median price means half of the prices for homes sold were above that figure and half were under.
More often than not, there is a stigma associated with the term, affordable housing, in that it is a crisis that only affects those in poverty. The reality is that the affordable-housing crisis affects a broad spectrum of the middle class here in Hawaii. It is both an income issue and an availability issue. Today it would take 3.19 fireman to afford a median-priced home, or 3.63 schoolteachers, or 5.2 hotel desk clerks.
SAMKOO Pacific LLC is a Honolulu-based property development company established in 2007 as a domestic limited liability company in the state of Hawaii. Its primary focus is the development of affordable residential condominiums.

SAMKOO hopes to approach this overwhelming issue head-on today, November 18. They will be hosting affordable housing education seminars to provide information and application packets to the public interested in their newest condominium project, The Central Ala Moana. The seminars are from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Hibiscus Ballroom in the Ala Moana Hotel, 410 Atkinson Drive.
The 310 available affordable units represent 60 percent of the 513 units being developed on the site next to the Ala Moana Shopping Center. The property’s central location is reflected in its name and offers the convenience of urban living in the heart of one of Honolulu’s premier shopping, dining, entertainment and recreational districts. The Central Ala Moana is located next door to Ala Moana Center, the state’s largest shopping center, and is within walking distance of Ala Moana Beach Park, award-winning restaurants and entertainment venues. Residents can easily commute by foot, bike or bus to work. There’s also convenient access to Waikiki, downtown Honolulu, and other neighborhoods.
