Class is in Session with ‘The Mortgage Professor’

Judy Meredith brings a wealth of knowledge to each relationship she builds, and helps families achieve the ultimate dream of homeownership.

Within the community, Judy Meredith is known as “The Mortgage Professor” thanks to her diverse and expansive aptitude in all areas of mortgage lending. She helps families buy, refinance and build homes, and assists developers with creating neighborhoods for communities to settle into.

Meredith took her first job as a loan officer in 1998, and 23 years later, she is still bringing homeownership dreams to fruition, one happy homeowner at a time. She recalls sitting with families who have cried tears of joy as home purchases are closed – the work to approve mortgage loans is life-changing.

“These are my greatest moments, and they keep me coming back to my desk each morning! My favorite part of my job is making dreams come true for my clients,” said Meredith, Hawaii Area Manager of Paramount Residential Mortgage Group, Inc. “Homeownership is a dream that most people want, but do not know how to pursue. It is my utmost reward to help them achieve their lifetime financial goals.”

Meredith was born in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Her father was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, so after serving in three wars, he had a wealth of knowledge to share. His lessons encouraged her to become a teacher. After growing up in Korea and Japan, and serving as a swim instructor in high school before gaining her master’s degree in global communications from UH Manoa, Meredith moved to Phoenix to become a high school teacher.

During that time, a friend introduced her the mortgage industry. Meredith learned quickly that loan officers are teachers in the field of finance, who educate families and guide them to successful homeownership. Her role has allowed her to give back to others in the community, and help them build their legacies; especially the veteran and military families, which offers her an extra layer of pride.

In her spare time, Meredith enjoys hiking and biking across the island, as well as scuba diving, swimming and surfing. She holds a black belt in Taekwondo and teaches martial arts within the community to help students to build strength and discipline.

She also volunteers with the Hawaii Association of Mortgage Brokers, teaches Continuing Education courses for real estate agents, and is an instructor in first-time homebuyer classes for associations that help those in underserved communities.

“Education is my platform and I am passionate about teaching clients how to leverage their assets to build sustained wealth through homeownership,” Meredith said. “After working with homeowners for over two decades, I’ve guided clients and staff successfully through economic booms and meltdowns, and now, a pandemic.”
