Expo Seminars To Focus On Real Estate Issues

Important issues facing real estate professionals will be the focus of three seminars at the Third Annual Hawaii Buildings, Facilities & Property Management Expo March 10 and 11 at Neal Blaisdell Center.

The pre-opening session, Real Estate Management in a Crisis Economy -Profitably Surviving Receivership, Bankruptcy & Foreclosure, will be presented by J. Benjamin McGrew CPM, CCIM, President of Managewest, Inc. in Carmichael, California and a Federal Bankruptcy Trustee and Superior Court Receiver. He will discuss opportunities for real estate practitioners, building owners and managers, and property management professionals in today’s marketplace and how to navigate the legal pitfalls and perils of troubled assets, court venues, and other legal liabilities associated with receiverships, bankruptcies, and foreclosures.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Hawaii Chapter of CCIM will present a luncheon session in the Pikake Room entitled Negotiating Lease Buyouts. The speaker will be Gene Trowbridge, Esq., CPM, CCIM of Trowbridge & Taylor LLP in Lake Forest, California who has been honored as CCIM Instructor Of The Year and holds the CCIM Distingushed Service Award. He will discuss the six major steps in negotiating commercial lease buy-outs. The luncheon fee if paid in advance is $35 for CCIM members and $40 for non-members. Payment on-site will be an additional $5.

On March 11 from 3 to 4 p.m. there will be a free session in the Maui Room entitled, Honolulu Rail Transit: What’s New? What’s Coming Up? The guest speaker will be Harvey Berliner, Chief Facilities Engineer of the Honolulu Rail Transit Project.

The Expo is open to industry professionals including Realtors and AOAO and HCAAO board members, but not to the general public or persons under 18.
