Homebuyers Fair: Getting Closer To Homeownership Part1

James Moniz

Have you dreamed of buying, selling, or building a home in Hawaii? If so, your dreams may be more attainable than you think! The difference between failure and success with your real estate transaction rests in working with a professional! That’s why the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, Bank of Hawaii, and Coldwell Banker are teaming up to sponsor the 6th annual Hawaii Homebuyers Fair on July 14th.

“Getting closer to homeownership starts by consulting with an expert, knowing what programs a family qualifies for, determining a budget for saving, and the price range of homes a family could buy,” said James Moniz, Bank of Hawaii’s executive vice president of Mortgage Banking. “There are various ways to structure financing, regulations and guidance that we adhere to, but our loan officers are solution-oriented to help buyers navigate the process. We want to help people attain their financing goals and ensure they are comfortable with the entire transaction.”

“We created the Homebuyers Fair in response to a need from our community for more education and more opportunities to work with established and trusted sources of information in Hawaii,” said Cyd Kamakea, classified advertising manager at the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. “We have seen thousands of people come through this event over the past five years. The majority of them came in without a clue on where to start, and they left with a plan. Many of those same people are homeowners today.

“GETTING CLOSER TO HOMEOWNERSHIP STARTS BY CONSULTING WITH AN EXPERT, KNOWING WHAT PROGRAMS A FAMILY QUALIFIES FOR.”

Bank of Hawaii, Cold-well Banker Pacific Properties, and Atlas Construction will be offering different opportunities for the community to come and get free education, as well as one-on-one personal consultations for pre-qualifications on a home mortgage and estimates on building a new home.

This year, Bank of Hawaii’s seminars will include a panelist discussion with a real estate agent, a loan officer, an appraiser and a tax accountant. And for families who are considering downsizing from a larger home to a condo, there will be a seller’s seminar as well. Besides the title sponsors, other exhibitors will be there to provide a one-stop shopping experience, making the time well spent at the fair. Additionally, the Honolulu Board of REALTORS® will be offering free parking for attendees who pre-register online at hawaiihomebuyersfair.com.

The fair runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 14, and is located at the Hawaii Convention Center. For more information on the semimar or to get loan program and rate info, visit: BOH.com/mortgageseminars.
