Myron Kiriu emerged from his small town roots in Lodi, California to be consistently recognized as one of Hawaii’s Top Realtors. After graduating from UC Berkley, he moved to Hawai‘i to “follow a girl” while continuing his career as CPA, and fell in love with the natural beauty and people of Hawai‘i.

Kiriu entered the real estate industry with purpose after a failed business venture. Real estate allowed him to meet new people, positively impact the community and emerge from debt to create a thriving business – thanks to help from his then-girlfriend now wife, Ambur.

“I am so thankful for the kindness of the people of Hawai‘i for giving me a chance,” Kiriu says. “After 2 years on my own, I asked Ambur to help me for a couple of months. She had just completed her pre-med studies at the University of Hawai‘i, and said she would assist me before applying for medical school. What was supposed to be just a few months turned into 25 years.”

Myron explains that Ambur, owner and Vice President of Public Relations, is “a primary reason for the growth of our company. Ambur and I do not have children, so our company has become our extended family.”

With nearly 200 agents and employees in 5 offices on Oahu and Maui, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Advantage Realty focuses on condo, singlefamily home, and multi-family real estate sales for buyers and sellers. Kiriu notes that, in most cases, the company’s agents are assisting in the handling of a client’s most valuable financial asset. Whether it is finding the right property for a first-time homebuyer, helping a young couple move up from a condo to a home to accommodate their growing family, or assisting seniors with selling their home to enable them to enter an assisted living facility, Kiriu and the agents at his company take great pride and care in their work. He attributes the company’s success to the strong character of the agents, extensive training and their commitment to put the client’s needs ahead of their own. He truly enjoys watching the progression of the younger agents as they mature into successful real estate professionals.

“I love meeting new people and the feeling that I made a positive impact on their lives and their families,” says Kiriu. He also enjoys traveling to broaden his knowledge of other people and cultures. Although he works long hours, he truly appreciates the challenges real estate provides such as successfully blending the use of new technology, while maintaining a personal touch to provide clients with the best possible overall experience.
